• Senior Outdoor Activity Instructor

    We are looking for a Senior Outdoor Instructor to deliver activities to a wide range of clients and someone who is confident in leading an outdoor activity instructor team.

    It will be essential for the candidate to have a proven track record in working with young people who require additional support and present challenging behaviours.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial, along with an ability to apply a sense of humour and flexibility.

    The ideal candidate will be confident in leading group sessions and working on a one to one basis to deliver a range of outdoor activities.

    Alongside our outdoor specialist alternative education, we deliver multi-activity programmes, DofE expeditions, event entertainment and corporate activity days.

    Main Responsibilities and Duties

    • To supervise, demonstrate and instruct groups and individuals in a wide variety of outdoor activities both on and off site.
    • Be confident in facilitating and managing a team of Outdoor Instructors to deliver Multi-Activity Programmes.
    • Plan and prepare educational material and lead suitable activities for a variety of groups to cater for their needs, abilities and experience.
    • Build exemplary relationships with all young people to support additional needs and challenging behaviours.
    • Ensure activities conform within current operating procedures and risk assessments whilst keeping the delivery fun, relaxed and engaging.
    • Maintain an auditable system in accordance to AALS.
    • Work with internal reporting systems.

    Essential qualifications:

    • British Canoeing Coach Award (or BCU/UKCC Level 3)
    • Stand Up Paddle Boarding Level 1 – BSUPA or British Canoeing
    • Climbing Wall Instructor
    • ArcheryGB Instructor
    • Basic/Lowland Expedition Leader
    • Full UK Driving Licence
    • 16 Hour Outdoor First Aid

    As well as the above, the candidate should hold at least two of the following qualifications:

    • Rock Climbing Instructor
    • British Canoeing Moderate Leader Awards
    • Summer Mountain Leader
    • Mountain Bike Instructor
    • Mountain Boarding Level 2

    • Flexibility to work evenings, overnight and weekends where required

  • Seasonal Outdoor Instructors

    Join a fun team to deliver outdoor activities with a May 2020 start at the state-of-the art Outdoor Centre in Pangbourne on the River Thames!

    We are looking confident activity instructors to deliver a variety of activities.  Alongside our multi-activity days, we deliver DofE expeditions, event entertainment, school holiday programmes and corporate activity days which you may be involved with during the season.

    Main Responsibilities and Duties

    • Prepare and lead activities for a variety of groups to cater for their needs, abilities and experience.
    • Ensure activities conform within current operating procedures and risk assessments whilst keeping the delivery fun, relaxed and engaging.
    • Report to the Senior Activity Instructor Team.
    • Work with internal reporting systems.
