Who can take part in the activities?

We believe in delivering activities that are suitable for all ages and abilities and will make reasonable adjustments to the programme where possible.  It is essential that your age falls within the specified age range for each programme.

What activities are included?

Due to the Centre boasting excellent facilities, we deliver a range of both water sports and land based adventurous activities.

This includes activities such as:

  • Open canoeing
  • Kayaking
  • Stand up paddle boarding
  • Raft building
  • Artificial climbing
  • Artificial caving
  • Archery
  • Orienteering
  • Survival skills
  • Team games

Although we want everyone to try all of these activities, there just isn’t the time!  We will include the activities that are suitable for group abilities and weather conditions.  Unfortunately we are unable to accept requests for activities that aren’t in the planned programme.

What happens if it’s raining or if there is poor weather?

All of our activities can operate in the rain, the only time that some activities wouldn’t run is if there is a risk of thunder and lightening or strong winds.  Don’t worry though, we will still deliver a fun and exciting programme.  Don’t forget to bring clothing suitable for the weather conditions as well as suncream and a sunhat for those (hopefully) warm and sunny days!

Do I need to complete a consent form for my child?

Yes, an Activities Medical Consent Form will need to be completed for every participant prior to taking part in any activity.  For those under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian will need to complete and sign the form on their behalf.  We can either send a copy of the form by email to return to us or complete the form when you arrive to drop off your child at the Centre.

Do I need to declare if my child has additional needs or medical condition?

Yes, it is essential that the Activities Medical Consent Form is completed fully and accurately.  This is to ensure your child receives the best level of care during the programme.  Please identify any allergies as the groups will have lunch together and there will be a BBQ on offer every Friday after the famous Friday paddle.  If your child requires medication to be administered whilst in our care, please provide clear instructions and ensure the medication is clearly labelled and within date.

When do I need to drop off my child?

You are more than welcome to drop off your child to Adventure Dolphin up to 15 minutes before the start time of your chosen programme.  Unfortunately there will not be anyone available at the Centre to meet you before this time.

When do I need to collect my child?

You must collect your child from the Centre at the specified end time of your chosen programme.  For most of the programmes this is 16.00.  You must report to the main entrance and a member of staff will be there to greet you.

What if I need someone else to collect my child after the session?

Please let us know the name of the adult that will be collecting your child and on which date.

What does my child need to bring?

On booking, you will be sent a ‘what to bring’ guide – this will detail everything that your child will need to bring with them.

Does my child need to bring lunch?

Yes, there is no facility at Adventure Dolphin to buy food.  Please provide a packed lunch, snacks and a drink for each day.  Unfortunately there is no access to a fridge/freezer.

Is it ok for my child to bring a mobile phone or valuable items?

We would always recommend that valuable personal belongings are left at home, however we do have access to a private indoor room which will remain locked when we are taking part in activities.  Access is limited to Outdoor Academy staff and Adventure Dolphin members.

Are there any changing facilities?

Yes, there are male and female changing facilities at the Centre along with male and female toilet facilities and showers.

My child wears glasses, can they still take part in the activities?

Yes, glasses can be worn whilst taking part in activities.  Please ensure that there is a way to secure the glasses so they don’t fall off into the water.

My child wears hearing aids, can they still take part in the activities?

All hearing aids should be worn whilst listening to safety briefings, during registration and during land based activities.  Hearing aids can be worn during some water sports, however we cannot guarantee that they will not get wet.  If you have any concerns or would like to know the planned programme in advance then please contact us.

Is there car parking?

There is a car park at the Adventure Dolphin site and there are other, larger, car parks within a short walking distance from the Centre.

If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact us for more information.
