Duke of Edinburgh's Award
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a non-competitive programme designed to support personal and social development. It incorporates an individual challenge, voluntary work, community support and encourages participation in team activities.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a tried and tested accreditation scheme that provides an invaluable opportunity for young people to be acknowledged for personal achievements.
Each award, namely Bronze (age 14+), Silver (age 15+) and Gold (ages 16 to 25) is composed of four sections.
These sections are:
Service -
helping others in the local community
Skills -
personal hobbies and interests
Physical Recreation -
sport, dance and fitness
Expeditions -
training for, planning and completing a journey by foot, boat or bicycle.
As a registered Access Organisation, Outdoor Academy are certified to provide necessary training and assessment of the ‘Expedition’ component of the award. For a young person to complete further sections, your organization would be required to complete a simple registration process with the Local Operating Authority.
Incorporated into curriculum time or run as an after school club, Outdoor Academy can deliver comprehensive expedition training in a fun and engaging manner.
