We specialise in working with young people aged 6-19 with challenging behaviours, emotional needs and additional learning needs.  We have assisted hundreds of young people since 2007 and have made a significant impact on their lives.

Our staff are highly experienced and specialise in working with hard-to-reach and vulnerable young people.

Further Information

We have close links with schools, pupil referral units and youth offending services in Berkshire and surrounding counties offering both 1:1 intensive provision and group programmes.

Each young person we support has their own personal struggle with education:

  • Challenging behaviours have led them to be excluded from mainstream education
  • Additional learning needs
  • Refusing to attend school
  • Anxiety disorders surrounding school and socialisation
  • Emotional needs

Our programmes encourage students to re-engage with learning and develop a wide range of skills both personally and socially and in the outdoors.  On a six week provision, students will achieve a number of recognised accreditation such as National Indoor Climbing Award and the British Canoe Union Paddle Power Award.  These are a great addition for future employment.

Call us on 0118 9712 769 or email info@outdooracademy.co.uk for more information on our Alternative Education Provision.

“For young people, engaging with Outdoor Academy can be life-changing. At it’s most basic, by improving self-esteem and peer-interaction, through to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award at it’s most fulfilling. Risk awareness and safety are managed with many years experience and delivered with skill and humour. A fantastic opportunity for those lucky enough to be involved!”

Jacquie Davies, Head Teacher, West Berkshire Alternative Curriculum Service

“Evidence shows that the majority of students who attend Outdoor Academy programmes make excellent progress from their starting points with regards to their emotional, behavioural and social development”
